As many of you have seen the current trend on slow living and incorporating self-care in daily life, whether its on youtube or other social media platforms, it has become a new way of living. For those who haven’t, its a lifestyle that gives you the opportunity to take a slow approach at life; taking your time to do small daily chores to make you feel calm and at peace.
This approach to life is a great way to reduce stress and focus on a better mental health and physical health. The issue is that if you live in a fast paced lifestyle it can be hard. Many of us have multiple roles in our daily lives, which can make it harder to stop and take time for ourselves. However, this is the part of self care that we need to survive. If we keep pushing ourselves to achieve everything on our daily list, we will run out of energy. Low energy can also contribute to low patience and mood; making it easy for us to get easily upset at those around us or not wanting to spend time with those we love.
However, starting small and building up can help. Doing 10 minutes of yoga, or 5 minutes of mindfullness breathing before starting your day or even ending your day. The more we focus on the small habbits the more likely we are to commit to change.
When we think about the big picture, we become overwhelmed and stressed. When you break down the problems, and approach it step-by-step it reduces the anxiety and prepares you for obsticles that may arise. For example: step one is waking up and working on 5 minutes of breath work, for a few weeks and then moving up to step two, adding breath work to the end of your day, as you continue to add little habbits and the struggle arises, you can always go back to the basic (step one) or the step prior to the struggle. It does not mean you failed, it jsut means you were not ready for the next step.
What small habits will you add to your morning or night routine?
